rebuilt bosch starter
We are on our 5th rebuilt starter from Bosch this year. The first arrived and malfunctioned. Bosch sent another which was also defective. The third worked for awhile until the bendix wouldn't return. The fourth was sent and they had dropped it and the ear hole was D shaped. The fifth arrived with a bent positive3 terminal on the solenoid which was also cracked. The first several starters were smaller casing but the mechanic who installed them was very upset, so he insisted on an original larger case for the last two. He claims this is somewhat routine for Bosch's rebuilts. Has anyone else experienced such problems? I'm about ready to just epoxy the solenoid cap and hope for the best on the battery connection.

Yes, have it rebuilt locally.....remans only fix it so that it works. Lifetime warranties suck if you have to take it out 3-6 months.
Local guys do it right or else they get a bad local rep. Plus you can yell at them.

That's a bit extreme. I'd be on the phone with Bosch demanding a brand new starter.
