Remove torsion bar from radius arm...

Anybody got a tip how to remove the torsion bar from the radius arm? It's on really tight and don't want to damage the torsion bar !

Appreciated!

Erik

There are a few similar queries on here, but the end cap of the arm is replaceable so just drill a hole in it, remove the end cap and punch the torsion bar out of the arm. Get a new cap.

Regards

Ian

The only way i could get mine off was with a puller and LOTS of heat.
Not my picture but that's what i had to do.
Hope yours come off easily.

Just did mine today... Pop the cover, puller, WD, and heat.

Why don't these things get put together with anti seize?!

I wouldn't use vice grips if your planning to reuse it. The most stress in a torsen bar is on the surface. Notches, even in non-notch sensitive material are bad juju .

Just be thankful it wasn't the other end that got stuck!

I don't have advice for hard to remove spring plates, but from this tread and others with various methods that have been used, it seems they can in instances be very problematic! I just thank my luck in having mine wiggle off very easily using only my hands. Maybe having a California car has something to do with it?

Wow I guess I got lucky today. Drilled the cap and took a punch and hammer to it. All set and done in less than 30 min for both.
