engine compartment light wiring

I'm swapping engine lids and want to disconnect the wires to the light so I can reinstall it on the new lid. Probably a dumb question, but where do the wires disconnect? I was looking for wire clips to disconnect, but the wire runs unbroken from the light, through a hole near the right hinge, and disappears deep in the engine compartment.

TIA!

Thanks! -- but I what I'm asking is (I hope) much simpler: where do the wires unclip -- at the light itself or further down the wire into the engine compartment?

deck lid light

It is quite simple the wires are connected at the light with screw post connectors. A small flat blade and it is off and the wires can be pulled through the lid.

Be careful and mark the grey and brown sides accordingly for re assembly otherwise it will short out the left tail lights and you will be chasing it and going through fuses like no tomorrow. Don't ask me how I know this!
