1st production Singer at PV concours (PICS)

The first production Singer 911 was at the Rancho Palos Verde Concours today. We've all seen the orange one, but this one is green and will be going to it's new owner in a few weeks. I want one of these so bad . . .

I'm also posting a pic of a Sterling Moss Mercedes and our host's 962. All in all, a good show.

Yes - the Rancho PV concours this year had a German car focus.

OMG that Singer is awesome. (The other cars aren't too shabby either ...)
Are the Singers smog legal in CA?

I was told that the '73 911S that we built for Will Sanchez took 1st in class.

That's a big WIN!!

Will gets all the credit for the white-glove cleaning, though.

It is a '73 so surely smog exempt, however, being a total rebuild and a newer engine, California could be picky on this one and make you get a current smog. But how can it pass the visual?

I wonder if they are selling them as 2010 Singer cars and have gone thru the smog certification process? Looking at the pictures again, one of them shows a CA license plate with a 2010 registration sticker.

The Singer is built on a 88 chassis and is registered as such, and yes it will pass smog.

Did you know that most of the body, including fenders, hoods, roof etc are all carbon fiber.

And Rob mentioned there was 65+ in the engine. You should have heard it - wow!

Can you tell me how the individual throttle body injection, cams, internal mods will pass smog in Cali??
None of those go fast parts are registered with CARB. Sure it may pass tail pipe emissions, but not visual

I'm thinking this car, and all the rest to come, will be '49 state only' and maybe a few more states might balk at it. Or have it registered as a 'off road only' vehicle, there goes my new daily driver dreams!

Here's production car #1 at the debut party at the Singer shop.
It's been so cool to watch this car come together.
(BTW... that's me behind the car standing next to Rob in his finest pair of cargo shorts. Also, Wayne's 962 is back there somewhere.)

The orange prototype at Laguna Seca last year had seats that were modified off the stock ones...notice the side controls....

However, I haven't seen the green one personally

Someone said a '73, but I thought '72 due to the filler on the RR quarter...

That seems to be where the oil tank is, has what appears to be the '72 oil filter console.

And A/C!

49 state? I don't think it would pass in Colorado, either. 48, 47, 46, 45, 44...

I spoke to Rob at the show and he said it was built from an '88 tub. I would have guessed a 993 from the wiper position, but he said they do lots fabrication.
