How to remove rear seatbacks?

...from the center pivots? The outside attachments look straight forward enough and I assume the carpet behind the seatbacks would slide out from beneath the rear tray. But, the two center pivots have me perplexed.

If it's the same as my 71, there is a single screw holding the outside hinge in place. The center hinge simply slips over a shaft. Once the outer screw is removed, the seatback just slides off the center shaft. I just removed mine about an hour ago. The carpet is nailed to the wood backer board for the seatback.

Tip for the day: use a VERY wide-bladed screwdriver to remove the screw!!! The screw head is soft and strips easily. Don't ask me how I know this. Part number for the screw is 900.236.001.02 - hopefully they are still available. -- Curt
