brakefluid overflow & fuel vent hose routing
I’m trying to sort out my trunk after replacing my fuel tank and plan to replace the brittle vent and overflow hoses in my 1970 911.
Hose #45 is routed through the front floor pan and drains to the outside via the bottom of the car. But what connects to the third opening of the plastic T-piece? (#43) My theory is the brake fluid overflow hose (#10) plugs into this piece so the fuel tank vent hose (#45) also drains overflow brake fluid out of the car. The little hose coming from the reservoir is a perfect fit into the T-piece (#43) which seems to confirm that theory. Is that correct? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1337507024.jpg |
Well thats what I did on my 1972, when I first got the car there was a wooden plug in the T fitting. I suggest you route hose 10 from the reservoir in a loop so that heavy braking does not drain the reservoir and make a mess under the car. I wedged hose 45 between the gas tank and the bodywork, where does yours exit the body? Is there a hole in the floorpan? Photo appreciated.

am I reading this right? you want to brake fluid to go into the fuel system??

Well mine finish short of going outside so I dump (don't ask...) about 250ml on the battery before hitting the floor.
Apparently :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: you suppose to clamp the hose before doing a power bleed. Oh well good thing I had order extra brake fluid :) |
I found this picture years ago showing the factory routing of the brake reservior overflow out of the car. This is in the front of the frunk.

I know mine is a different year, but I would not run your brake overflow line into the fuel system lines. Mine, and '82, leaves the reservoir and runs along the fender, forward, where it then goes through the sheet metal and drains just behind the battery wall. I have been meaning to move it so it drains in the middle instead of a possible area where one of my tires might roll over it.

bringing back an old thread - @HarryD once the brake overflow/vent tube leave the frunk above and behind the washer pump is it secured in any way? It doesn't seem like it, I want to re[place all of my vent line. Maybe just get up there behind bumper and pull the hose down? Dont want to remove the bumper for this! Thank you

I did not remove my bumper. Once out of the trunk, it just hangs down.
