Installing Seal on Targa Bar

I'm getting ready to install a new rubber seal along the front edge of the Targa bar on my 71. I looked at it last night and am wondering if any interior pieces need to be removed (i.e., the Targa bar 'headliner' or the small trim piece at the front of the headliner). If so, how are these removed? Thanks in advance. -- Curt

Hi Curt,

I didn't have to remove any trim on my '83 Targa. Just pulled off the old rubber, cleaned out all the old glue with help from some glue remover and stuck the new one in place with a general purpose contact adhesive. I found that doing this:

helped to keep the seal tight up against the bar while the glue dried.

Good Luck!

Cheers,

Tim.
