Raceware rod bolts - stretch method
I bought Raceware bolts to replace the stock rod bolts on my 993 rebuild.
After reading the installation instructions from Raceware I decided to follow the recommended stretch method, so I bought the ARP stretch gauge. The problem I found is that the ARP states that in order to use the gauge bolts should have dimples in both sides. The Raceware bolts have a dimple only on the thread side, ..no dimple on the head....How do you use the stretch gauge in this case?? Thanks

Not sure how you can effectively measure stretch without the dimples. There is a lot of movement between the wrench and gauge while doing this. I'd imagine without the dimples, it would be easy to knock the the gauge out of alignment causing inaccurate readings. Maybe Raceware has a dedicated stretch gauge for their fasteners.I
I feel confident when tightening ARP's and using a stretch gauge since they have dimples on both ends. |
