Post Persistent clicking behind dash board?

When I run my 1975 911S, there is a persistent clicking noise coming from behind the dashboard, like a relay switching on and off - not unlike the noise a turn signal indictor makes, except mine is constant. It's most noticable at idle but is always there; when driving it is simply masked by road noise. The puzzling thing is that everything electrical otherwise works. Any ideas? I recall looking behind the instruments (from the trunk side) a while ago and seeing some relays behind the guages.
