911 ownership poll!

I know Wayne did a poll for which year 911 people owned, but I thought it would be easier to break it into model years to see who really rules here, i.e. SC's, Carreras, early 70's etc...

Carreras jump out to an early lead, but who will prevail? My guess is the SC's.

Only the SC right now. But hopefully adding a 964 for a daily driver within the next year.

Well, D-OH! Which model did Porsche make the most of? Quantity doesn't always reflect Quality, you know? For example, factories in Taiwan crank out pool cues by the millions...you see 'em for sale in Wal-Mart and Sears...$20. Guaranteed not to warp or splinter until you play with them. Meucci cues, located just a bit south of Memphis, where they say "you-all"? He makes not quite that many. Both come apart, both fit in a case. Anybody want to guess which is the higher quality? Leland should be able to give us a review...soon, I hope.

Do we detect the beginnings of snivelling defensive revisionism from the SCWorldDominatedPuddle?
Just kidding - we don't need to gloat. Carreras rule, OK?

Well......they *might* rule....if it weren't for their spindly rod bolts, and valve guides that wear out in about 50k miles.

And just incase you haven't heard:
REAL Carreras have 4 CAMS!

Muhahahhahahahah!!

Hey, my valve guides waited till 80k to wear out, so there!

I have tried to add the 930's and correct the year on the lwb's but can't figure out how to edit the poll options from the edit post screen.

Doug? You're making a great point here. Can anybody explain why the engineers at Porsche decided that skinny rod bolts were better? Or, could it have been the bean counters moving in? Me? Create controversy? Oh, no, not me... But maybe that's when the REAL decline started? Not '74 as I'd suspected? By that time the Porsche engineers had figured out the government rules, how to comply with them. WHY the smaller rod bolts? Anybody have ideas or thoughts?

Numbers don't tell the whole story. There are a lot more plain women than beautiful ones.

ownership poll

I would have also liked to see the following breakdown in the 911 ownership poll:

Coupe vs. Targa vs. Cabriolet

Interresting.
