Michael,

Try "The import Experts",they are a large Porsche parts supplier in the US and their prices are decent ...

Cheers !

I used Design 911 UK a few years back for a Boxster project and their prices were good and delivery was quick through DHS. These, as well, were for some items that Pelican didn't have at the time.

Used them a lot in the past. Reliable and a good option for those (like me) in Europe.

Just FYI, they list the prices without VAT (taxes).

fair question

im very happy with pelican and the extra services they provide including this forum

and have purchased quite a bit with them and more to come.

but freight is a KILLER from USA to AUS so i surf the net looking for bargains, it appears not only, that design 911 have some stuff that pelican dont at the moment mostly rust repair sections, but freight from UK to AUS is about 1\4 of freight from USA.

in short i love pelican but it pays to shop around

They are a big supermarket and they don't even notice you have been there...
Personal service is not the best! Until you pay, everyone is nice... after you pay your stuff... well...

American companies have a 10 x better service than in Europe.

In Europe, the best I found is Rosepassion.fr

I give you an example: once I was ordering disk brakes and I needed only one.
Right after I placed my order on-line I had a phone call directly to my mobile with a guy speaking Portuguese (???? - rosepassion is French), asking if it was right or if it was my mistake and I really wanted to order the pair.

Maybe for the American members, this is not a surprise... but in Europe, having this kind of attention... That is not normal!

I also heard good references about "Joma Parts". Never bought from them, just heard from other people.

Tassie just a heads up but try Ship2Anywhere.com.au they can pick up for you from most US address's and are remarkably inexpensive.

They use the major carriers they just have negotiated way better rates than we can get as public.

As an example, I got a quote for four wheels to Harvey Weidman in California and it was $359 total from Brisbane for all four and just over $400 AUD return pick up.

Cheers Al

Design911 are good people to deal with.
I travel regularily between the UK and Oz and have bought from them in person as well as online for delivery to me in Oz.
I too shop around for the best price which is a combination of unit price and shipping.
Pelican is great but not always the cheapest to ship here in Oz.

OOPS .. miss read that ..

they can get more parts than are on the website ...

Sorry for the confusion ... first instinct when other vendors are mentioned here .. Kinda a knee jerk reaction ....

Michael,
I have used Design 911 a few times, as you have said, postage from US is a killer even on small items. Despatch and delivery from UK was fast, less than a week. I have even found it cheaper to buy from Porsche Aust. than from US due to postage costs.

No problem dealing with them - some parts are not stocked by Pelican , esp for the 924.
We are all on a budget , and it pays to shop around - sometimes freight costs are the deal breakers.
You guys in the states have it very easy , believe me.

I would like to add that a lot of vendors in the US just 'assume' prices. Recently I tried to purchase a seat hinge cover from a US dealer (10 dollar part) and they tried to charge me 60 odd bucks in postage. I can only assume they just send everything out in a pre-paid 60 dollar bag.

Thankfully a pelicanite came to my rescue and sent me the same article for 10 bucks.

Cheers

Michael you might want try Ship2anywhere.com.au

I got a quote from them to get 4 wheels picked up and shipped over from California when I was thinking of sending mine there to be refurbished and the price for them to pick up from there and deliver to my door here in Brisbane was significantly cheaper than anyone else could do over there or here.

Cheers Al
