Question: If Upgrading to A Calipers from M, do I need to add a Brake Booster

I have a '74 with M calipers and no Brake Booster.

If I were to upgrade to A calipers, would I also need to add a Brake Booster or could I go with my standard 19mm non-bosted MC?

I'm asking because I already purchased a vacuum booster and that thing is pretty heavy. I'd leave it out if I knew that the A's will do ok without it.

Just doing my research at this point....I still need 3.5" strut housings - this may be a "next year' project.

Thanks..............Vern

The stock 19mm m/c will be fine

Just a FYI, the booster is not a simple bolt in, you will need to modify the trunk floor and linkage

I've been saving photos of every trunk I could find and I've got it mostly figured out. I think the hardest part would be running the vacuum from the back to the front. I bought the booster with all the linkage and pedals. Cutting a hole in the trunk floor is not something I will do without absolute clarification and measurements - I'm glad to hear I may not need to do this afterall.

I think my 1st pass will be to just try the calipers with no booster.
