On my 1979 911. I had the exhaust backdated to the 1974 exhaust. Then I had a shop cut a hole in the passenger side and weld on a tip. Now I have no catalytic converter and am running a dual exhaust sort of. I am thinking now to possibly go to a smaller diameter tip to quiet it up some. But i do not want to lose any performance.
Anybody have some good advice here? My wife says she can hear me drive all the way up Highlands Ranch parkway. i say COOL! but now am rethinking that... ![]() ![]()

When I installed a Dansk 2/1 (not Sport) I found it very quiet but yet the power was still there when I wanted it.

You could fabricate a plug to plug the second tip. I have an M&K 2 in 2 out and it is LOUD with both tips open. Sounds bad a$$ on the track though. My neighbors don't share my appreciation of the volume, so I plug the second tip for street driving. It knocks the sound down quite a bit.
I use a cotter pin to secure the plug in the pipe and quickly remove it when I want to hear it sing. Last edited by SpeedracerIndy; 06-04-2012 at 05:02 PM.. |

so it won't really help in going to a smaller diameter pipe then? if no I'll get a shop to fabricate me up a plug. Thanks!

Plug is the way to go, and I doubt you will experience any performance loss. A cap with a couple slits and a hose clamp works well.
