ID a color code?

About a month ago I asked to see some different colors of yellow for my ST project. I have now found the exact color I was looking for.

I found this picture while looking at the TdF listings on club911.net. Can anyone ID the color? Maybe a paint code or name? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A buddy of mine has a 1974 US Carrera that from my eyes is the same color. Here's what he says;

Hi Steve, I think the color is "Light Yellow." That's according to the Porsche 911 Red Book. Light Yellow was the only yellow that was a standard exterior color in '74. It is color code 117.

I was not sure if it was light yellow. It looks lighter than the other light yellow cars I have seen. I have other picts of this car and this was the darkest one. I guess the bright sunlight is playing games with my vision. Thanks for your response.

It's realy hard to tell form that picture as the sunlight is reflecting so much on the car. It doesn't look the same colour to that US Carrera 2.7 to my eye. I wonder if it's a Porsche colour? Any clearer pictures?

U sure if its even a porsche colour? You could buy that light yellow and ask the paintman (he who mixes the paint) to add some white in it. I think the white would do the thing...Although that colour seems a little matte, they are hard to keep clean.

JP Novak, I've linked this thread to the Club911 in France, asking their expert (Bruno, user name "Bweissach") to see if he can help. You must however appreciate that with colors on websites, it's no easy nor guaranteed certain thing...but let's try.

I afraid i won't be able to help you. I'm not sure that the yelllow on your picture comes from Porsche.... My opinion is that it's a personnal yellow, made by a specialist....

The only thing I can do for you is to give the codes (is it english? ) i have in my books.

So, I'll only give the ones between 1974 and 1989, I think it will be enough. Sorry, it's in french!!! "jaune" means Yellow.

1974/1975 :
117 : Jaune clair
1976/1977 :
106 : Jaune Talbot (I think it's the color of Steve Marshall's 911's)
117 : Jaune clair
1978/1979/1980 :
106 : Jaune Talbot
1981/=>1986 :
None
1987=>1989 :
10W : Yellow lemon.

That's all I can do. I you think this color is younger, ask me for more codes, but I think it's not a Porsche standard color.

I agree that it might not be a factory color. It appears to be too light for "light yellow". It is however the type of color I am looking for. Nice period subltle color.

Zendalar, I think that is a great idea of mixing in white(or adding less yellow tint) to get the correct effect. Not sure if its a matte finish. I have another pict of the car and the sun has quite a glare.

Bruno, I have a similar listing of yellow paint codes(in English). Talbot yellow is too yellow. Lemon Yellow is too bright, similar to the signal yellow. It seems that every picture I see of "light yellow" cars is different. Lighting, fading, and dirt can change the color dramatically.

BTW, Does anyone know whose car this is? Maybe someone was at this years TdF and met/talked to the owners or drivers.

Ahoy JP Novak, lemme ask the Club911 "reporter" who did the tour de France, and lemme give you the TdF website, there's a participant's list which might reveal the Owner of that particular car.

I checked it myself on the TdF website, no. 11 said to be a Porsche 356, so that doesn't help. I've asked ou Club911.net, maybe that will bring a result, but you do cross your fingers now!
