Pics of my "refreshed" 71' 911E

After purchasing a 911E from ennisk1 a little over a year ago, I decided that I wanted to do a color change. I have always liked Light Ivory on the early cars, but the right one never popped up for sale. The car I purchased from Keith had a Martini paint scheme (see here for the sales thread: 1971 911E "Martini" Hot Rod). Although I did like the car as purchased, I could not get Light Ivory out of my head. I decided to do a respray last summer, and began looking for someone to do the job. After searching here and The Bird, I received a PM on Pelican from a member in IL. He had his car painted by a retired paint/body guy that specialized in Porsches. After contacting him, Mike said he was not sure he had the time. 3 months later he called me and said he would do the car, but that he would only be able to work on it in his free time. This was Oct., and I was ready to put the car up for the winter anyway. I said I could give it to him for the winter, and he agreed. I dropped the car off in late Oct. in IL (a 3 hour drive from my home in Indiana). I made a couple trips to see the progress after finding just the right color). Finally received a call in late March that my car would be done in a week. As you can imagine, that was the one of the slowest weeks I can remember. Mike is an older guy, and he doesn't use email, so when I picked the car up, it was the first time I had seen it completed. I was completely blown away with his work. The paint is flawless, and he did an excellent prep job. Could not be happier. Only thing that I have noticed (and actually, just today after looking at the pics I took) is the front bumper tape is a little crooked. That is easily fixed. Very happy I decided to change the color. Anyway, here is the finished product:

Since getting the car back, I installed new carpet, seat belts, and modified my shifter a little.

Very nice. Agreed Light Ivory is a great color for an Early 911. Wasn't this car on BaT before you bought it?

Very nice! I really like that color! I wonder if that color would work with an orange stripe up the center? (For my project).

Enjoy!

Crockey, it is beautiful. Light Ivory is a great color but I have biased opinion on the matter.

Thanks Pete. Your car was one of the inspirations for the final outcome.

Very very desirable! Well done. I love the piston look gear housing on the early cars. Is that the D Zug shift knob , home grown or other?

Shift knob was a gift from my wife from TRE for Christmas. Had to wait 3 months to finally put it on

Sweet!

What's written on the driver's door under the vent window?
