Where to find a Shaft Coupler for a Zenith 40 TIN?

Hello all,

I've got a broken shaft coupler on one of my Zenith 40 TIN carburetors on my 1971 T. Any suggestions on where to start looking for one? I'm guessing the Weber shaft coupler is not the same even though they look identical in pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the super fast replies guys....

...I'll give 'em both a try.

If there are any additional suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

p.s. Can anyone confirm that the Weber part will or will not fit?

A Weber shaft coupling can work (Pierce Manifolds has them) but be careful when enlarging the bores, if the resizing from 5mm to 8mm isn't performed carefully then there will be a side load which will cause the shafts to hang-up due to friction. I recommend the enlargement be performed on a lathe. Otherwise try buying a throttle body to salvage these couplings; they are otherwise unavailable unless there is a savager on eBay that offers them.

This seems to be a common failure of the Zeniths.

I should have waited a few more seconds before I asked again!! I just may try that modification if nothing else pans out.

There are quite a few commercially available shaft couplings that will do this job and the 'beam' type coupling is probably the most suitable unless originality is important.

This type of coupling is available in either Aluminium or Stainless Steel.

Ruland Zero Backlash Flexible Couplings: One Piece Clamp Four Beam MWC; Aluminum; Metric

Ruland Zero Backlash Flexible Couplings: One Piece Clamp Four Beam MWC; Stainless Steel; Metric

There are other manufacturers who also have extensive catalogues.

Flexible Beam Shaft Couplings - RCS, RCL, MWS, MST, MSX on The Precision Alliance

This one may do the job but could be available at a better price if you dig around.
