Fried DME relay solved
I recently posted my strange problem of frying 2 DME relays as I was driving my 84 Carrera. I appreciate all the tips ad advice. I am back on the road and the problem appears to be resolved. The problem was an indirect result no having no O2 sensor. The leads that the o2 sensor are normally would connect to were loose and tucked away back near the coil for who knows how long. When I recently had the 3 sensors replaced in that area the movement bumped the O2 connectors closer to the frame, and one day as I hit the gas hard it grounded. One of the 2 pins has constant 12v(i believe the O2 sensor heater). When it grounded it took 12v to the 30 amp DMe relay at pin 87B and cooked it immediately.
Ive since taped it off and everything is fine and running well. This afternoon I will install a whole new O2 sensor. The car runs well now, curious to see how the sensor affects things since it sounds like its an important part of the system Thanks friends ![]() |

Just a happy thing that it didn't fry the DME!

I thought you found that in your first thread?
Good discovery. Lucky you didn't have a fire and lose the car over the PO's doings. |
