Exhaust fit: 3.2 for 911sc?
I have some crusty Heat Exchangers on my 79 911sc, and have the opportunity to get a set of 3.2 Carrera Heat Exchangers, muffler, cross over, and cat converter. They are in very good cond. Will the 3.2 system fit my 911sc? Thanks for the help.

I just looked in my Dansk parts catalogue and they use different part numbers for SC and Carrera 3.2 heat exchangers even though they look alike in the drawing. The cat or pre muffler are the same part numbers. So something must be different on the heat exchangers I guess. But just because the part numbers are different it doesn't necessarily mean that the parts won't fit anyway. Sorry for not being of much help.

The biggest difference is the way heating air is delivered to the Carrera exhaust manifolds.
Here is a pic of a 3.2 exhaust including the heater conduit, judge for yourself; ![]()

Phil....where are you located? I have a complete 3.0 heat exchanger, cat, cross over pipe and muffer assembly that has 48,000 original miles on it.....I did the SSI swap on my 83 SC euro, I even have the oil lines if needed.
I might be persuaded to part with it.....I have been able to pass smog here w/o it.....so it is up for grabs. Just sitting in my storage shed and I keep smacking it with my knees when stepping around it.... Bill, that's actually not true.
The main difference between the SC and Carrera heat exchangers is the flange that meets the heads. On the early cars, there is a lip, and on the later cars there isn't a lip (or is it the late cars with the lip, I can't remember off the top of my head). Either way, the exchangers with the lip will work fine if you grind the lip off. The stainless steel models are the same for SCs and Carreras... -Wayne

True, but the lip can be cut off. The other concern would be the different lengths of the studs. But all of that is changeable.
