A little goes a long way

Just a quick share because I am excited!

I made a few minor fixes to my 1980 SC and 2 things really stood out for me.

Firstly, I replaced my 15" dunlop SP9000 tyres on cookie cutters with Kumho KU31 on 16" fuchs. In one word...wow!
The feel is so much better, braking is rock solid and I almost can't get enough of the feeling of the whole car squatting down under braking, perfectly stable.
Cornering is so much more confidence inspiring too. Its so good, that I think its dangerous! Its far too easy to enter a corner too fast. Better know what you're doing!
Unfortunately I couldn't get hold of Turbo tie rod ends, which apparently has a markedly increased feel too.
Its also way too much fun to just rapidly change lanes on the freeway. The response is very sharp. Good tires are an absolute must on the SC. Its definitely very sensitive to tires.

The 2nd thing that made a difference was a complete surprise! My heater blower wasn't working so I decided to have that, as well as the smog pump removed. I kept the parts for originality sake though. The biggest difference? The sound! Its clear that those extra parts in the engine bay absorbed or scattered the sound. There is a definite increase in sound from the back, but very pleasantly so.
Now I can't wait to have a set of SSI + Dansk fitted in the future. Just the normal Dansk muffler should suffice.
Its so much fun to blip the throttle on an upshift over 5k revs.

These 2 things alone has made a huge difference in the pure enjoyment of the car. Since enjoyment is the purpose of owning a Porsche I am very happy with the changes. 8)

Oh and in case anyone wanted to know...ATS cookie cutter centers work perfectly well with the fuchs rims. (Silver centers on black rims are not that great though!) I will add a picture here and to the wheel sticky tomorrow...

Yep, I experienced the same gratification when I replaced 10+ year old Dunlaps for some new rubber!

Another big benefit to backdating the heat is you can see the engine! changing plugs/valve adjustments just got that much easier for you!

If you haven't already, replace your shift rod, pivot ball, and coupler bushings to complete the transformation!
