Wire not connected. Where does it plug in?
I was installing a new hood shock and found a wire with a sort of clear rectangular connector on the end (female). I could not find any place that had a male connector in the area that this wire could reach.
The wire goes down to the big gray (gas tank?) sort of tank looking item that is under the carpet in the front trunk and attached to it. I forgot to shoot a digital, but will do it if no one is sure what I am talking about. I need to know what its for and where to re-plug it in. Thanks

FWIW, I found the same wire in the same location, also unplugged. I figured it was a test wire or went to some accessory I don't have. I'm curious as to what it might be also ...

There does not seem to be any power connected to it. I was afraid that it connected to my fuel gauge as I have that gauge out for glass and bezel replacement, but the wire will not reach.
Am I correct that the gas tank is in the center of the front trunk?

if the connector is in the corner by the hood shock on the passenger side it's probably for your hood light. it should have 12v+ when the hood id opened and should goto ground when the hood pin switch is pressed.

I think it's also in line with the door open buzzer. Mine was disconnected when I bought my car. Plugged it back in to find that the trunk light and buzzer worked. I like things that work.

If this is the wire to the front trunk light, plug it into the light fixture (lug) or insulate it well with electrical tape or shrink tubing. In some cars this circuit is unfused and if it grounds it will melt itself and adjacent wires in the harness. This can trash a significant portion of the wiring harness behind the dash! If people were unplugging this to kill the buzzer they may have inadvertantly set their car up for a wiring meltdown.

Mine is on the drivers side. Its not the one for the light that comes on when you open the hood. My hood light works fine.
I doubt it would be the buzzer for the car door as its connected to what looks like the gas tank. Forgot the digital at the office. May run home as this is bugging me now !
