Best Performance Exhaust for 3.0

So I have a 3.0 in my 73 and headers with a 2 in 1 out Bursch and I am running CIS. The car is 70/30 track/street. What exhaust will work best with this set up?

Get an M+K 2 in/1 out muffler.

Your existing headers are already about the best thing you can install on these engines.

Agree with above, but I'd take it one step further. If your 70 percent track, go for a 2 in 2 out M&K and get a plug for the second outlet. The 2 out sounds mean on the track and you can put in the plug when you need to keep the neighbors happy.

I had a 2 in 1 out Bursch for about two months before I bought the M&K. Couldn't stand the sound of the Bursch. Sounded like a tin can full of bees. The M&K reminds me of the cup cars. You will seek out underpasses with the M&K!

Good suggestions indy and to go one step further you could buy the 2 out and just cap the outlet on the 2nd tail pipe location as you dont have to put the second tail pipe on unless you want to. hard to explain without pictures but it is straight forward

Thanks for the suggestions on the M&K. One follow up question, is the two out better for sound or performance or both?

I think the 2 out is just for sound. I don't think it adds any performance over 1 out but I'd wait for the experts to weigh in on that.

it sounds amazing at full throttle though. I get lots of complements at the track. It does resonate a bit at about 3500, which is why I put the plug in for street driving. With the plug in it sounds the same, just about half the volume and no resonating.

I do think it makes difference, it did on mine, I had it with two out and when I plugged one side it lost some power on the high revs.... I am no expert, but just speaking out of experience with mine. Take it on track and try for yourself, both setups sound amazing it is a good product and it fits well with ssi. I had no issues with the product at all........

The issue w/ some 2 outs is an unpleasant resonance ~2k rpm, in general the bigger the volume of the muffler and the better the internal design the more pleasant and tolerable the sound will be.

For 3 liters I prefer SSI hooked up to one of these Dansk mufflers

stainless steel will last a lot longer than mild steel

As a cheaper alternative Magnaflow makes a reasonably priced ss can that can sometimes be plumbed in, the spacing of the SSI collectors makes that much more difficult though
