Missing Sway Bar 911SC 3.0 1,980.
 

Hello everyone.

Would like to get feedback from you all to make this a nice project car.

Just bought a 911SC 3.0 1,980. My first POR-shuh. I would like to fix it really nice for street daily use but I want the feeling of a real bad-a.....; fine piece of machinery!!!

Working it one-stage-at-a-time. Funds are limited but not necessarily unrealistic.

Need advise.

We are missing the rear sway bar and before I purchase an original PP I wonder what choices I have to make it; tight and a good feel driving it.

Would like to upgrade as much as possible by sections and in this case starting with the rear suspension.

Mounts,
Torsion bar
Sway, etc, etc...

I am looking for excellent handling. Little racer, maybe?Help!!!!!!!!

I already done one quite a handful of upgrades recommended by Wayne R. Dempsey book 101 Projects for your Porsche 911 and I want to go all the way or no-way.

Most will reccommend the WEVO mounts but reinforced factory ones work too (additional reinforcing sheet metal that you put on there). Tarett anti-sway bars are my preference.

First, someone should mention that you want to be careful upgrading the rear suspension without doing the front. If you do the car may be dangerous. So you need to come up with a plan for your entire suspension, then work towards it in careful stages if that's what your budget demands. Some ideas of combinations that work well:

The issue with the factory mounts is that they were never designed for stiff rear swaybars, and can fail if you upgrade the swaybars without addressing them.

My car came this way so I'm no expert discussing stock to modified, but here's what's on my car. It's a Weltmeister adjustable 19mm rear sway bar. It has mounts that are attached to the torsion tube with large U-bolts. Maybe one of the resident experts can chime in on this bar vs. stock.

I have never seen a swaybar setup like that one in the above post. Is that what a Weltmeister adjustable looks like?

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the info, I little set-back here now that I realize what needs to be done and I definitely want it done the right way or no-way.

I think that for now I am going with original PP for the time being until I have a budget set-in mind for the total suspension upgrade.
