I have my ticket and will probably drive from NOLA also. May fly though. If I drive I will probably take my daily driver because it has a/c, sat radio, and I can actually hear the radio.

I'll be there, but not planning to drive from NC, even in my wife's new car. But it would be an adventure to drive my 911.

Guys, I have my tickets (along with four buddies of mine), airline tickets, rental car, and hotel*. The hotel is the biggest issue, once you get your race tickets. Almost everything in Austin is sold out or way over price. We are staying in San Antonio and driving the 60 miles each day. Better prices and a much better (Hyatt) hotel than staying in Austin.
Maybe we can get a group of "pelicans" together one of the nights for a few brews at a local watering hole. ![]() Cheers art agrimmitt@pelican 6/26 Tues 10:30pm pst |

Hey everybody
![]() Myself and 4 of my friends will be heading to the US GP in Austin. Thought about driving the Pcar but I can't take that much time off from my job ![]() ![]() If I'm not wearing "tifosi" swag, I'll be sporting a "Porsche Rennsport Reuion" shirt. Hope to see some of the Pcar owners there!!! Ron

I will be riding the bus across town to avoid parking and traffic.
I have GA tickets and will probably be near Turn 7. Locally, there are a few meetups planned. More details will be posted as the time gets near.

We'll be there but probably driving my DD. Both of our Porsches are 2 seaters and there are 3 of us. It would be great to meet up with everybody for a beer or 2.
I can't believe how much the hotel rooms are. Ouch. |

Hotels? Anything you can find open. Most everything in Austin is sold-out for the weekend and has been since they confirmed the date on the calender. The ones that have rooms available are charging exorbitant amounts.
It is likely that you will need to drive in from other areas like Art above staying in San Antonio. HMM maybe I should rent out my house and sleep in a tent in the backyard.

I'm flying from Charlotte with a buddy and meeting up with a friend coming from NoVa. We are in a condo for the weekend; sitting in Grandstand 12.
Has anyone seen anything about cooler rules or what you can and can't take into the track? We BYO in Montreal and it works out really well.

art PS We rent a home in Pebble Beach each year for the Historic's vs hotels as in the past. It's a far better deal (four of us>as many as seven cars) vs hotels on race/aution week in the Monterey/Carmel area. If the race turns out to be a cool event and we return, my guess is we will rent a place next year. We do a barbque night, Italy pasta night, we all attend one or more of the Porsche or Ferrari dinners at the wineries; plus a party on Friday night downtown. Something to think about next year. art agrimmitt@pelican swimriderun.trail@verizon.net Last edited by agrimmitt; 07-08-2012 at 07:38 PM.. |

This could be one of the first public reviews of the Circuit of Americas.
Austin news, sports, weather, Longhorns, business | Statesman.com I can't wait to see if they will open it up for a DE.

Traffic Flow to Formula 1 in Austin
I got my hotel reservations as soon as the restart was announced. However, they are in North Austin and I do wonder what the traffic flow would be like. Maybe coming in from San Antonio or La Grange may be more convenient?
Also I bought the cheap tickets because I thought that turns 9 and 11 would provide good enough viewing, now I see that grandstands are going up there also and they are offering upgrades $$$. Is this going to be so closed in that General Admission will not be able to see anything?
