Where is Bob Barnes????
I bought a crankshaft (magnafluxed, cross drilled and micro-polished) and bearings from Bob 4 months ago and it has not turned up yet.
I live in Australia so this time frame is not unusual for a part coming over via ship. My concern is I have been trying to contact Bob for the last month to find out shipping details, tracking, etc and he has not replied to my PM's or emails. I am not ready to loose all hope yet but things are starting to really worry me and my engine rebuild is on hold until the crank arrives. Does anyone know Bob and why he would not be able to be contacted? Cheers Mike ![]() |

Bob is a good guy and is usually out racing or busy running his biomedical company. I bought a set of magnesium bbs wheels and wheel fans for my 934 tribute from Bob for a considerable amount. Although the wheels/fans took a while to recieve they were as promised. My suggestion is to keep hounding Bob...

Thanks rsrfan,
From my initial emails to Bob he came across as a very nice guy and I believe he will come through for me... I am just getting a bit anxious for the crank so my rebuild can progress. My machinist is constantly asking me for the crank as he also would like things to move forward at his end. |

I thought I should post an update.
I got in contact with Bob yesterday via phone (Thanks Joe Bob). The reason Bob has not sent my crank or answered my emails is he has had eye surgery and has not been able to see his computer and has been unable to lift heavy objects. He is on the mend and promised to send the crank as soon as he is able (fingers crossed next week). |

Well BoB Barnes has failed to come through with the crankshaft as promised and has over $3000 of my money.
I have tried to contact him but he refuses to reply to my emails. I need some advice from fellow Pelicans about what I can do to recover my money. As I live in Australia I am thinking this could be an ordeal but I can't afford not to get this money back. |

Somebody here must know who he is and where he lives. Maybe start a new thread briefly summarizing your experience and asking for help to find out where he is?

I did follow up and rang Bob and he gave me a story that he had eye surgery and could not send the crank because he could not lift heavy objects but would post it the following week.

I have since tried to contact him but he has not returned my emails. And moneymanger I do now have his address so will have to look at getting some legal advice as how to proceed. Last edited by drmanberrys; 10-08-2012 at 03:28 AM.. |

We wish you success. Behavior like this by dishonest or simply irresponsible people is beyond annoying.

I did not know the Bad News seems to exist as Bad News Barnes! I had not seen this three year old post until an issue occurred about a return of monies on a $75.00 fuel sender. An irritating email evidently mentioned this in passing about my past dealings on this site!
Modified Race Parts do take time to get assembled-ordered and checked out. This was a special Crank modified by CCR and some special Coated Rod Bearings from Jerry Woods that were matched per journal by Woods himself. A complete Long block had been put together for my 3.4L Race Motor and I offered to sell these to Mike Crawley in Australia when he could not get a reliable Crankshaft. I was committed to my Fuel Injected 3.6L and offered to sell some pieces to Mike. Visiting a Glaucoma Specialist-complaining about my vision created a major setback-because he performed an emergency laser operation to try to save what vision was left. I regret that the recovery was slow(operation on both eyes) but I did send Mike the pieces that were promised. I did not stiff this fellow Pelican as my email to me implied. Mike received his Race Parts later than expected and I guess a little after this posting in Oct. I am attaching a confirmation of the delivery to Mike. It would have been nice if he had updated the thread to alert you guys that the parts were received. I can take the heat when I can't perform as promised but I could not help in this case. A late delivery is cause for concern and a lack of contact is a reason to bring it to a public forum...
But very clear reasons for the delay was given so we all understand what happened. After airing such a grievance publicly you really do have a duty to post that the item was received and the matter was resolved.

Waiting on someone to send parts or worse waiting to receive parts after payment is made is frustrating. Being on another Continent is even worse. However, there was contact made in August via email according to my Outlook. I know his Machinist was waiting on the Race parts and I know the pain that was being felt. Parts WAY overdue but 4month between contact is not totally correct
Sometimes, a few long distance phone calls work for us old school folks vs. email and text! I have my Cell on 24/7-even if I can't see! I still would like to know the satisfaction/lack of with the parts. I have waited as long as 8months to get a Race Crank modified. Ticked off waiting, but sure like the Piece when it arrived! Bob |

If you are going to start the thread to complain it is reasonable to expect that you close it out upon conclusion. Sorry you never got your name cleared, Bob.
