what is this?
I took a good look into the depths of my recent aquisition, a 1988 porsche Carrera and noticed two items that look in need of replacement but I dont know what they are or what parts to order from PP to replace. Help needed.
Just to the right of the oil filler is a metal tube ending in a odd shaped rubber fitting with a large crack in it. also in the deeper area of the eng. about center there is another connecter that looks about the same and is in the same condition with a crack in the rubber connector. Does anyone know what these control? are they opposite ends of the same hose? What do I order to replace them they do not look long for the world. Fuel hoses looked new. Thank you PO. Thanks. parts question
The first two photos are of the Pipeline as it is called on PP, part number 930-110-328-05-M100 someone with more knowledge than me will have to chime in on what it is for, think it is part of the intake? I am not sure about the the hose near the oil filter, think it has something to do with an air restriction for when you take off the oil fill cap while the engine is running???

Its Carrera vacuum line. The part tends to be rather expensive, $140, but what many do is run one hose inside another and get the step down that is needed. Put sealant between the 2 pieces of hose and clamp them up. Only vacuum so its not rocket science.

First one is vacuum line from the rubber boot between the throttle body and AFM. Provides vacuum for brakes and cruise control. Comon tear. Expensive part, I patched mine by sleeving it with a larger rubber hose and a clamp.
Second one might be to the throttle body to prevent icing in cold weather. I am not completely sure since I had an '86 3.2 in my 1973.5 and just capped the hose since there is no connection point on my oil tank for it. You could probably cut off the crimped hose lamp and sleeve this one also, using a regular hose clap to secure it. If your idle does not drp when you remove the oil cap you definitely have a vacuum leak.

The first shows a rather large leak. repair it and you will definitely improve idle.
The second is a PVC you can get from autozone (or most auto stores) PCV AZ# 4298 or clean yours. Inspect the rubber adapter for cracks. A pic of what the guys were talking about: ![]()

Excellent guys,
Thanks for the tips and info. I will do as suggested with the do it yourself step-down hose mods. Don |

the second picture is a Rubber check valve sleeve, part # 930.207.243.01 and is NLA (no longer available). It is also vacuum related and will help your car run better. Call your local Porsche dealer and they can order one for you in the neighborhood of $15. If they can't get it for you, contact the Porsche dealer in Phoenix and they will get it for you.
I just "paid it forward" by giving my last one away to another Pelican, sorry I couldn't help you more.
