2 minute fix Thanks to Pelican!

So I started the car to go get gas this morning and as I'm driving I see the generator light is dimly lit. I plug in my cheap chinese digital voltmeter as I'm driving and it reads 11.7 volts. Knowing I have a new battery and I'm only 2 miles from home I stop,(Voltmeter reads 12.1 volts stopped) fuel up, re-start and drive home.
As I'm driving I remember all of the horror stories about failed alternators, cracked fan housings and the like.
I'm thinking crap, I don't need this this week!
Then I remembered the failing Voltage Regulator and Radio Suppressor posts I've read and begin to have a little hope.
I pulled ino the garage, Take off the plastic access cover unplug the suppressor and plug in the connector from the engine directly to the VR.
Start the car, Generator light is now bright red! Give it a rev or 2 and the light goes out.
Suppressor is now in a box and I'm a happy driver once again.
I checked and I have one high resistance value reading from post to socket terminal. (Internal failure)

I just want to say Thanks to Wayne for hosting, and to everyone that posts here, this site is a wealth of information and a huge benefit to the Porsche community.

Don't forget to thank that former US manufacturer of test meters who moved his entire factory to China along with all the knowledge to make them.

Light goes out right away on it's own every time I start it.....Now that the suppressor is out of the circuit.

I'll be plugging in the volt meter all the time. Voltage has always been very stable with no fluctuation. Guess it was just time for the suppressor to die.
Think I'll order a VR for a spare just in case...
