901/01 engine id

I have this aluminum Porsche 6cyl engine case Could someone be able to tell me the year and specs on it?
*900149* and
901/01
49
I'm just guessing, but is it a 1964 and build number 49?
Thanks
Gary

You are correct, originally installed in 300048. Can you post some photos of the numbers? There are date codes under the pulley on both case halves, and the last digits of the casting #'s on each of the case sides 901.101.10x.xx would be useful.

These are the only numbers on the case.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks
Gary

Great documentation! Even the lack of date codes on the pulley end is a useful item to know. Those somewhat blurry pics of what looks like a P in a box, can you get better shots of them? Not necessarily a closeup but more in context. I'm not sure if I have seen those before. Thanks very much.

This is going to be on E bay here in just a little bit, along with a whole mess of other parts if anybody's interested.
Thanks

i hope magnus will get all of the above. its better for the (rare)engine to be in one piece rather than parted out....
