polishing intercooler
has anyone attempted to polish the Konklen intercooler?
Any luck on doing it...if so how did you do it.

I'd be wary of messing it up - not only was the Kokelyn one of the best performing half-bay intercoolers, but I think I read that they may now be NLA?
I left mine alone - being a heat exchanger, any roughness in the surface (as opposed to, say, mirror-polished), provides more surface area - which is a factor in how efficiently it does its job. Otherwise, work through various grades of wet'n'dry in the very tight spots, and use an abrasive wheel with polishing compound for the rest, finishing with a buffing wheel. Expect to spend a long time on a large piece like that. I did all my own prep work for re-chroming on one of my motorcycles nearly 30 years ago. That finally cured me of the compulsion to make metal shiny...
