Bench test CIS components
I have searched but can't find a thread on how to bench test the components of CIS. I have 3 sets and would like to check all the parts and TRY to get my car running before I give up on CIS and go to Carbs or megasquirt

The Bentley manual has all the test procedures.
What are you wanting to test? More to the point.....what is the problem you're trying to remedy.

CIS troubleshooting.......

davis, Do you have a fuel injection pressure gauge kit? It is mandatory to have one to be able to do a meaningful diagnostic test. What particular CIS components you want to test? I might be able to assist you in case you need some help. Keep us posted. Tony |

the AAR, AAV, TTV, TTS can easily be tested out of the car with a battery, but, these will not keep the car from starting, except the TTS, which works with the CSV to provide fuel for cold starting.
the easiest way to test the WUR is in the car, even a car that does not run. you just need to run the FP. you can check the function of the vacuum diaphragm by removing the vacuum from the WUR while monitoring warm CP. WCP should drop around .8 bar. to start the car, you really only need the WUR, FP and of course the FD and injectors. you can perform the job of the CSV/TTS by lifting the air sensor plate with the FP running to dump a little fuel in the combustion chamber. but, you DO have to have CORRECT fuel pressures and mixtrure. you can side step the mixture if it is not correct by lifting or pulling down on the air sensor plate as someone starts the car.. this will change the mixture without messing with the setting. and of course you need to fix air leaks and have a proper working ignition.
