Also means alot to have previous maintenance history. My 85 Targa came with receipts of maintenance from day one and thus you can prove what was (and was not) done to the car and goes a long way towards proving that the speedo was not tampered with.
Had I to do it over again, I would get a 86 or newer model for the improved vents in the A/C system. Gearbox does not matter to me as a good 915 is an excellent one if working right and has Swepco in it, but sweating in the summer is not fun at all. Joe |
I got my '87 with 72.5k miles on her for $17k. She has some cosmetic issues, but I believe there is no sign of the valve guide wear. I use about 1qt. per 1000 miles and have some leaks. The car does not smoke at all and all who see it say the engine sounds very sweet. Plenty of folks have run these cars well beyond 100k miles with no valve guide issues. You just need a good leakdown and compression test to be sure.
