Flares

Looking to put early Turbo flares on a 1970 911 and I have 2 questions...

1. Where/Who is a good source for Steel Turbo flares (used or new)?

2. Who in the Pacific Northwest can install them correctly?

I can do all the prep put I have heard that welding on flares is not for the beginning wleding type.. (me)

I recommend that you reconsider putting flares on a 1970 911, even early turbo flares.

The early longhoods (1969-1973) are worth a lot unmodified. You may be better suited for a later car that comes flared with more power and wider tires. I highly recommend an SC or Carrera or a turbo that came with sweet flares. I definitely understand wanting a flared car but this is likely not the right car to modify.

You will hurt your car's appeal as a 42-year old classic by adding aftermarket flares.

YMMV.

Best of luck!

If you want wide flares, use the correct RSR or ST flares. The Turbo flares are too common and have those sharp creases around the wheel well that don't look right on an early car. The RSR and ST are more rounded.

Long hood cars are indeed desirable in either totally original form, or done to a high level build. But your market for a "built" car is fairly narrow compared to a stock car.

Turbo flares are popular in that they are available at reasonable prices, when performing a 73 rsr conversion. Is it 100 percent correct ? No, but the car looks great. Check out some of the pics of cars displayed on this board. ST or RSR flares ,with the "right" contours are really expensive for the right stuff. We know, we import them from Europe for our clients.

Share with us what your vision is for your car. There are plenty of people on this board that built cars and a lot of them are spectacular.
