Looking for a link for a fan that someone has installed and photo's.
Problem is.... when the car is sitting in idle, temperature rises. I think a fan on the rear would fix this. Can i not just tie the power into the compressor? Seems like a easy fix but there are hundreds of threads that beat around the bush on this mod but no "true" answers or links. everyone seems to go off in a different direction. So, i guess im asking where (to buy)and how (to install). Thx |

Try searching using "SPAL fan" as the keywords... Sit down, open a cold one and start reading...

Ac
I'm looking to do the same when I get around to fitting AC to my 2.7. I have a large condenser that I will be fitting into my turbo tail and I'm pretty sure I will want to run a fan under it to draw through. The BMW e34 or e32 has a fairly flat fan with some spiral blades that run pretty quiet it has a two speed resistor so it could be wired on low speed and it may be enough. It may be to large for a stock condenser. and engine lid.
I'm running a set of dual webers and K&N filters so I have some pretty good room back there with a 80s turbo tail. How do you know its running hot ? AC cooling drop in slow traffic or is it soaking the inlet are driving engine temps up? Ken

Not moving the engine temp up according to the needle but i have a vent meter and it rises when i stop. I have read here about people putting a pull fan on the rear but i havent got a link for the fan from anyone yet.

![]() I used 2 12 volt fans, run them in parallel with the compressor clutch engaged, in series, only 6 volts each, if the A/C is just on. The front condensor fan was noisy so I disconnected it and the rear condensor/fans arangement seems to suffice. Oh, '88 Carrera. |
