Distributor signal wire to CDI box. GREEN wire restoration.

Fellow Pelicanites...

I wanted to share that it is possible to re-terminate the GREEN wire at the distributor end. Instead of buying a new GREEN wire.

Simply remove the connector collar using a screwdriver as shown. Be careful of the white connector since it is likely brittle.

Fabricate a couple of terminal removal tools as shown from thick wire. I used some thick stainless steel TIG wire.

Use the terminal removal tools to unlock the terminals in the white connector as shown:

Remove the white connector from the BLACK connector body by sliding the white connector off of the wire terminals:

Cut the GREEN wire off at the back end of the BLACK terminal base.

Make note of the loacation of the shielding wire (covered in black heat shrink):

Cut the shielding wire and signal wire of of the BLACK terminal base.

Drill out the old wire from each side of the BLACK base connector.

Prepare the GREEN for to be re-terminates by stripping back the covering of the shielding wire.

Heat shrink wrap and portion of the shielding wire prior to pushing the signal and shielding wire back into the BLACK bas connector.

Re-use the OEm terminal ends. Re-terminate the signal and shielding wire as needed.

re-install the WHITE connector end over the terminals.

I used used heat shrinkable electrical tape on the back-side of the BLACK base connector to prevent future cracking of the shielding case.

Nicely done.

I have a question: I wondered if it has to be coax wire, or is it possible to use maybe a BLK and a GRN wire of proper size and then do the same.

Coax is correct, I know, but is it necessary

The Coax outer sheath shields the inner signal wire from stray electrical noise and grounds it out.
