Fuel pump psi went from 3 to 5.5psi

Anyone have any idea how the fuel pump, original Bosch in a 70T, could increase pressure? I did change the indwelling screen/filter in the tank, nothing more! One of the reasons I replaced the screen, was that the car seemed not to be getting enough fuel. Any help will be appreciated. Steve

I once had a regulator and gauge in the engine compartment up so I could keep an eye on the pressure for my Webers. I found it changed quite a bit with increasing temperature. First thought it was the regulator, but then discovered the gauge itself was seriously affected by the temp in the engine compartment.

Bob, thanks for the reply. My guess is that the pump needs replacing or rebuilding. This would explain why I have needed to tweak the carbs virtually every time I drive the car. Temp in my "heated" garage was 60 degrees and I do have pressure gauge there. By the way it was running, I have no problem believing the gauge is ok. Steve

that is probably max pressure when either the supply or return line is completely plugged or blocked. I doubt its the pump.

T77, I will give it a try and make sure the supply and return are clear. That does make sense and really hope it works. Steve
