Mystery spring after engine drop, can anyone ID?
I kept seeing this spring floating around while I was working on the motor, and figured I would see it in one of my reference photos and figure out where it goes, but I haven't yet...any ideas?
I'm planning on re-installing the motor tomorrow evening and would like to put it back where it goes. It's a pretty light-duty spring, not the one on the throttle arm or the clutch spring. Any help much appreciated, thanks. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...teryspring.jpg |
throttle return?
what year car |
That looks like the "outer" throttle return spring.
Some older cars have 2 of different diameters. The larger one goes over the smaller. |
Throttle return on the bellcrank which bolts to the case.

^^^+1... the throttle return is much shorter with equal length "hooks".

Hmm, I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure the clutch spring is a heavier spring, and a replacement for it came with the uber clutch kit that I bought through Pelican...I don't think this spring came off the underside of my transmission, as I haven't cleaned it, and I don't think anything that clean came off the belly of this 915!
I'll double check all the same, though; car is an 86 BTW. |
There is suposed to be 2 return springs connected to the bottom of the injection going to the accelerator platform on the top of the engine. The return springs are longer on one side much like the picture.

Bingo, I do believe that's the one.
Thanks! |
