Check if you have a spare DME relay in the glove box ... that relay would be situated under thew driver's seat !

Cheers !

Pump is tucked in beind the fuel tank under the car.
Are you in Hood River or where? 84 and 30 run together for a long time.

I'm no expert but lots of others on here are.

#1: Check the fuel pump relay. Swap it with the horn relay. Edit: I'm talking about the relays in the trunk, on drivers side by the fuse box.

Otherwise provide as much info as you can.
- Possibly out of gas?
- Are any fuses blown?
- Can you hear the fuel pump whining when you turn the ignition key to on?
- Any evidence of an alarm installed?

A 911 SC does not use the Motronic DME relay. Take off the plastic fuse box cover in the front trunk and read the diagram attached to it. Look closely at the fuel pump fuse. They often corrode and don't make good connections. There is also round relays of which one is the fuel pump relay. You can swap with one from another socket.

Fuel pump is located under the car behind fuel tank. It is covered by a large steel splash pan.

The fuel pump does not run with the key on. It runs when the CIS sensor plate is moved when the engine cranks.

Where are you on 84??

an 81 has no DME relay. the fuse/relay panel is in the front trunk, on the left side. the fuel pump relay is the rearmost one, usually red. they can have poor connections at the pins or they can fall out. the fuel pump fuse is 36, counting from the rear. must be clean, not corroded and the wires in the terminals must be clean and tight and not be burned looking.
here's a fuel pump check: remove the rubber air filter straps and pull off the filter. key on. reach in the filter housing and lift the curved aluminum arm that you see hanging from the upper area inside the housing. if it has no downward pressure on it, there is no pump function. if it has maybe a pound of pressure, you will hear the injectors whine as you lift, so don't do that more than a couple of seconds. if there's pressure, then next thing to check is spark. pull the coil wire from the center of the distributor cap and hold it about 1/4" from the edge of the fan housing while someone cranks the engine over with the key.

Just talked to David he's near LeGrande, OR.
Tow truck on the way.
Swapped horn relay, no change, now trying another relay as he didn't know if horn worked, cover came off of red relay when he tried to remove it!
Car ignition in run position, lifted air plate no squealing or noise.
Trying a different relay from power windows.
Checking fuses,
Had to go as tow truck driver calling, can't find him..

While on the phone......

I was talking to David how to do a quick check with the FP when the tow truck pulled over so I have to hang up. I was advising him to have it towed to safe place like a service station or a hotel rather than sitting on the shoulder of the hi-way for safety.

The latest news is that he's able to start the car again. Be safe.
