Clarification on POC time trials rules needed
I want to start running in the POC in time trials. I down loaded the rules re car classification, but am confused. It says the SC is allowed 20 points. However, it fails to identify the modifications to which points are alotted before it moves to the next class. I am only provided with points for the V or production class. I wish to remain in the modified class but have the following modifications to my car:
- 7.5 and 9 inch wheels: for production there is a 1 point for each 1/2 inch over 7 & 8s per axle. (3 points) - bigger torsion bars, don't knwo the points - a 3.0? built from a 3.2 case: the case number should put me into the Carrera category, but I am sure my 3.0 cylinders and pistons were used for the rebuild. - factory AC removed. POC rules says facotry AC must remain on the car. But what if Iit isn't? Do I have to install it or is there a point penality? - pre 74 exhaust. Any help is appreciated.

I believe you are allowed 13 points (modifications) before you are classified as a "V" car. Any of the modifications listed on page 24 of the download page automatically makes a "V" car.
You start with the base points for your car given the VIN (20). You can then examine the improved section and production sections to see the permitted modifications. Those not included are listed on page 23 of the download with the corresponding assessed points. 2 points for the torsion bars 3 points for the wheels 0 points for the AC removal 2 points for the exhaust 20 + 7 = 27 Sounds like JP or J production. The way I read it, the base 20 points for an SC only applies if you are going to race in the "V" classes. It looks like as long as the points for your modifications don't exceed 13, you will be in the Production class. If you exceed 13 points, you move into "V" classes.
A US 911 SC is in "I" class according to their list, so it looks like you bould be in I Production. I wouldn't take my word for it though, contact them at this link: http://www.porscheclub.com/about/contactus.shtml Tom |

Oops my mistake. Tom is correct, should be IP as long as you are correct about the displacement.
