Question '72 911 SC Window Motor Removal

With cutting torch in hand; before I start to butcher my weekend love / tormentor. Is it correct that I have to remove the regulator to remove the window motor? I've tested the switches and they're fine. Cleaned the tracks and the connections as best I could. Window is in the up position and stuck.

The regulator appears to be a real pain to deal with.

I would apply power direct to the motor before going to all the trouble of removing it.

It may seem like that - but I replaced the motor on my '77 without removing the regulator. I forget quite how - but seem to remember about 30 minutes of squinting, scratching of head, moving the glass/rotating the motor was involved...

Got that sucker out, and all it did was hum/vibrate slightly when 12V was applied to it...

Once you figure it out, they go back together quite painlessly, if that's any consolation.

Ha. I clearly remember the sinking feeling when I confidently bought new switches to fix my problem, went to fit them, wiring diagram in hand - and looked at the switches I popped out and realized that a PO already had...
