Anyone Know What Steering Wheel This Is?
I just bought this wheel locally for $100 (I thought if I never use it, it would look good on a wall). It's 400mm, hard plastic and the crest is spring mounted--meaning it will twist a little left or right and re-center itself. As for condition, I would say it's at least a seven.

If you twist off the butterfly horn, you will see the part number. It looks like a 914 wheel to me because of it's shallow depth. A 914-6 wheel would be valuable and is not the same as a standard 914 as the splines are different.

Thanks.
Part #901 347 081 00 I'm not thinking it's something real valuable, honestly my first impression was that it would look great in my office or maybe on a garage wall.

According to one vendor (AA), that part number is for the 1965-73- 911 and 1965-1969 921. Not certain how accurate that is however, nor the value. Looks very similar to mine ('75 911S).

Early 911/912 wheel. Not especially rare, but looks like a good buy for $100 in that condition. The crest in the center isnt OEM. That was added at some point.

The guy I bought it from had a '72 targa S in the eighties when he came across this wheel. He liked it with the crest and thought he would install it but never did. He sold the targa in the late eighties. A few weeks ago he was digging through stuff in his garage when he came upon this wheel--it had been tucked away for 25+ years. He had it listed on a local online classified section when I chanced upon it. A friend sent me to the site to look at a pretty nice '70 targa T http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/9794582 and this was advertised with the cars instead of in parts.
Nice find I think.

Looks the same as the one on my 69 912-without the leather covering.

As stated by 'Nostril Cheese' (& others), it's a std 400mm Factory 'hard plastic' wheel.
It would have originally been fitted to a '69-'72 911 or '69 912 - earlier cars came with a 420mm wheel (& in '73 it was superceded by the 400mm 'foam' wheel) but will fit any '65-'73 911 or 912. Incidentally, you will find a date code opposite the part number (under the hornpad).

Looks like the same one in my closet that came off my 72.
