Difference in Heat exchangers?? SC vs 3.2

Hi,

I picked up a set of heat exchangers and they don't fit.

Does anyone know the difference between a 3.2 and SC heat exchenger.

Or 930.211.025.01 vs. 930.211.029.01. I believe they are both thick flange... So I thought they would fit...

Thanks!

The tube size is a couple mm larger on the carrera HE,s. The larger tube size might not seat at the exhaust port because of this. Where dont they fit?

Yes, the tube size is too big. Is there an easy way to convert them?

If the only place they don,t fit is at the port .You could grind the raised tube end off flush with the flange. Then rely on the gasket for a seal. The raised tube end shields the gasket from heat so this might shorten gasket life a bit but should work otherwise. Lots of other cars use a manifold without a shielded gasket design

I picked up a pair of SSI's that were for the Carrera and converted them to fit my late SC.

You don't even have to grind. The collars are held on with two tack welds inside. If you take a cold chisel and a hammer you can remove them by crushing them inside on themselves. I may have used a dremel to grind the tack welds before hitting them with the chisel/hammer.
