How to Adj Points and Mixture
I was wondering how to adjust the points and the mixture on my 74 911. The motor is a 2.7 and I am stuck with her for the next few months until I rebuild my 3.0. When I had the car smogged the technician said that my car had way too low numbers and that it does not have enough gas in the fuel mixture. He said that giving it more gas helps cool the engine, is this correct, and how do I do it? http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat3.gif

Your mechanic sounds like he shouldn't be working on Porsches...
Adjusting the mixture can only be done with a gas analyzer, something that he should definitely have. Not sure what the points have to do with smog? Can you give more details? -Wayne |
I just need to adjust the points, I placed in a new pair and kind of threw them in. The car runs but I would like to do it right.

Jeff,
the following thread has all of the pertinent data for your distributor ... which is the same as the '72-'73 911T used. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/5432-distributor-lube.html |
Thank you
