VDO wiring

Hi all, i tried tagging on an earlier thread but was too far back to gain any responses so reposting as a new topic after a thorough search. I just had mine rebuilt by North Hollywood and started the install and I believe I reconnected the wiring in the right order. On testing, I had no movement with the indicator to I pulled it out to start over.

I did however notice a brown black wire coming out of the same cluster but not connected to anything. The wires I do have connected include the two single wires, a double set and a triple set. Any idea what the single brown/black wire might go to or what am I missing with the install? The mystery wire is the one on the metal housing.

Thanks

Bob

Well, I reinstalled the vdo and followed the correct wiring and still no results at any speed. I did see somRFIDference to ground issue in some past posts so could this be a reason? I also saw a past reference to connecting the red wire last, assume this is the hot wire. The first time I installed the vdo I did not follow this procedure so could I have cause further damage? The original problem was the vdo worked some time but mostly I had no readings.

I am really at a loss here, appreciate any feedback.

Bump, I have tried about everything but no results. Any suggestions? I am thinking that maybe the gear was not the issue.
