A/C Question: 911 vs 930 hoses?
Are there any differences in the air conditioning hoses on a 911 and a 930? I have a set of hoses off of a 930 and need to replace the ones in my 911.
I would like to use the 930 set of hoses as a pattern and make up a set of hoses with the fitting crimped on one end and then snake the hose through the car, crimping the second end once the hose is on the car. Anyone know if they are different? Thx, Joe

No one has an idea on this? Cannot be that much difference in the hoses on a 930 vs a 911?

I would think not? I have a '79 930 and a '88 Carrera a buy looking at them I don't see any differance at all.

I have never poked around in a 930 but did not think that the condensor on that car would be that different (due to the turbo or intercooler location) to cause a change in hoses. Thanks for the input and will head to ACKits in a couple of hours with a bundle of hoses to duplicate! Joe

Depends on which hoses you are replacing...the 79 uses a different compressor than the 88 (unless the older one has been upgraded) and the 930 uses a different rear condenser.
Of course, the obvious question is why do you need to change the hoses anyway?

Want to go from the old style stock hoses to the "barrier" type of hoses throughout the car. The old style hoses leak a bit of freon even when new while the newer hoses do not have this problem. In the days of $5 a bottle of R-12 it was not a problem, now that it costs up to $60 a bottle, I want a tight system that does not leak... I have 5 bottles of real R-12 freon left from my stash and am overhauling the compressor (main shaft seal is leaking a bit) and replacing the hoses in a attempt to end up with a system that does not leak freon. As well just moved from Dallas to Phoenix and do not want to keep the car in the garage much of the summer! After reading the posting that Michael in Tampa (seadweller) did two weeks ago about making his own hoses and the results of his A/C system, its time to give it a shot! Joe
