Oil line to Crank Case; What Size?
Im in the process of retrofitting early heat exchangers with my SC. The pelican article says that the oil lines are a 32MM...so off to Sears i go. 32MM is the largest one on the rack, but it is still too small to get on the nut holding the stock oil lines to the crank case and the thermostat. Should i try a really big adjustable wrench or maybe a monkey wrench? For some reason, i dont think I could get a big monkey wrench in there where the thermostat is.

Those big nuts are 36mm. You could probably get a big, cheap wrench from the local farm supply store. My buddy Mark (kiwior) got one from Farm & Fleet for like $15. I think you need 1-7/16, which will be huge. So you gotta cut the box end off to be able to use it in the fenderwell.
I have the oil line wrench set (27, 30, 32, 36mm) and I think it was a good deal for $50 (from Stoddard before I knew Pelican had them). The wrenches are maybe 12-16 in. long and therefore fit just about anywhere you may need to use them. Here they are at Pelican. You have to click on the link and then go to the side bar with all the tools listed. Click on the Wrenches link, which is the fifth one from the bottom of the list. Spanner Wrench Set

The purpose made oil line wrenches are best but in some of the locations a Stilson (monkey wrench) actually works pretty well; the bigger open end adjustable wrenches (Cresent wrenches) often don't fit. Cheers, Jim
