O2 sensor after header installation ?

Hey guys,

What happens to the O2 sensor after you install headers on your car ?
The bung on the headers is more aft than it was on my premuffler and the sensor doesn't reach now due to the wiring being too short ...

Is it OK to splice into the wiring and extend it or will it affect the overall purpose and performance of the sensor ?

Cheers !
Phil

You weld a bung onto the header.....some people then use a wide band sensor on both sides.....I believe there are interfaces that allow split signals.

I am not aware of a need for a specific length wire(s). Believe you can cut and extend.

Edit - I installed a cylinder head temp sensor on my 81 - you could not cut the wires as the length had something to do with resistance allowing the gauge to work properly. The O2 sensor generates voltage and that can travel unchanged along given lengths of wire.
