Ground in trunk near electric antenna -- is this it?

This is really dumb.

I tried searching for a pic and didn't see it.

According to the Bentley, there is a ground on the passenger side of the trunk near the electric antenna.

I tested the brass bolt with my multimeter and it's a ground. I Looked in the wheel well and can't see what's holding the power antenna in place. Just wanted to be sure I can put it back if I take it off.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

if you are talking about the shiny brass piece...i believe that is the snap for where the carpet installs... I think the ground is further back behind the hood shock and more on the floor of the trunk...1300 miles from my car or I would check for sure...

I don't have a photo, but my car has significant ground stud in that area (takes a 13mm nut). it's a stud that is bolted to the car and the power window harness is grounded to it. It could certainly hold more wires.

Also, some cars (not my '74) have a ground stud directly to the left of the fuse box (on the sheet metal that houses the front strut.

Here's a photo of the ground that is near the fuse box (on later cars).

I just noticed that you are on the passenger side.

When I was installing my power windows, I was looking for a similar ground point that is also on the driver side. This was because the power window harness has ground wires on both the driver and passenger side.

I never found the passenger side ground stud (maybe my '74 dosen't have one), so I used one of the nuts on the hood hinge.

Thanks, guys.

Here's what I'm trying to figure out.... I'm wondering what is on the other side of that shiny brass bolt? In other words, if I take it off to put a ground wire on will the power antenna fall off?

WOW! GREAT looking fuse block!!

a good project is to remove each wire from the fuse block, clean the wire end and clean the screw, one at a time of course, and with the battery disconnected. also, clean the clips that hold the fuses and either replace all the fuses or clean the ends.

corrosion adds resistance which creates heat.

yours of course is awesome.

I have that on my list. Replacing the fuse panel with the one I bought from Pelican Fred Cook. I'll get to it... eventually. This is the project that will not end. Of course, it's all my fault for continuing to put stuff on the list... you know... "while I'm in there". Of course I can't really say I did the 21mm spacers on the rear wheels while I was in there. It was like looking at a picture hanging crooked on the wall -- just didn't look right until I fixed it.
