BBS Rim to Tire Question

I have the opportunity to pick up some BBS honeycomb rims in pretty decent shape (will likely have them redone however). Having an '84 911 Targa RoW (no turbo fenders), my questions are:

(1) BBS Rim sizes are: Front (6J x 16) / Rear (9J x 16) - will these fit my year (I think so...); and

(2) I currently have Michelin Pilot Plus A/S Tires on Boxter rims - Front (205 / 55 R 16) and Rear (225 / 50 R 16). Would either of these fit above rim size? I think front maybe?

(3) What size tires should I put on the BBS rims (assuming that my Michelins don't fit of course), to make sure I don't hit the body without mods?

Thanks

Depending on the offset "ET" of the rear wheel, the 9" should fit your 84 just fine. Here are my BBS RS wheels in 7x16 ET 23 front and 9x16 ET 11 rear. I love the fit, and they fill out the rear wheel wells great.

Sorry guess I should have added the ET values on the rims. Front is 7J x 16 ET 36 and Rear is 9J x 16 ET 15. My intent is to have them refinished just like yours (black - to match the car. Looks sweet. What size tires do you have on the rims?

Front is stock 205-5-16, and the rears are 245-45-16. The slightly higher ET will have the wheels sitting inward slightly, but not by too much. Should look good! I have really liked my BBS wheels, and I really like the extra rubber on the 9's in the back.

Good luck!

You can run your 225 s on the 9s in the rear. Are the front 6 or 7 wide. Et36 suggest 6. Wheels and tires will fit though most would prefer 7 and 9 to 6 and 9.

Thanks Uncle Scott.

The rims had 7J x 16 ET 36 on the front could have read it wrong I guess. Will have to reconfirm tomorrow to make sure.
