What could these wires be?
In the attached photo (taken looking rearward in front passenger wheel well), there are two unconnected wires which I'm trying to figure out. The first looks like it has a protective boot on it, while the second has been cut (PO...) and has what looks like a coax and red wire. I have a manual antenna which is the smaller wire that runs into the luggage compartment just above cut wire (looks like an L in the picture).
Any ideas? Thanks

Do you believe both are for the antenna?

The one with the red wire and coax looking wire definitely. The one with the boot, does your car have an option with the antenna built into the windshield. I haven't had any experience with the windshield antenna, so anyone that knows about those should chime in.
EDIT: By the way, the one with the red and coax should have another small wire in there. The same gauge as the red. Coax is for the antenna, red is power and I think mine was white for the remote signal from the radio to tell the antenna to go up or down.

Interesting thought. I thought it had - RoW vehicle and all, but could never find the connector. Porsche body shop said, naan, not in the windshield, although I was suspect, as it looks like there is a mesh in the glass (which is delaminating of course.
Will try to trace to get a better feel. Thanks

Here is an image of mine. I have an after market electric antenna that had an additional ground that I had to add in. The original only had 2 wires plus the coax because the case was metal and grounded through the mounting bracket. But it kind of gives you an idea. The wires can be traced into behind the cover plate for the heating/ac duct work. The other wire and where it goes, I would suspect a windshield antenna.

Great thanks. Going to head out and try to trace the wires now.

Those could well be antenna wires for an old CB radio as well. You never know what a PO did.

Well, power antenna that cut off wire was - now removed and connector cleaned up behind the radio. The other "booted" one, I could trace as far as "in behind the plenum in the luggage compartment", but no further without pulling the blower assembly out (soon enough, but not today unfortunately).
Don't suppose anyone has an idea where the window antenna connector might be along the window edge? Can't find much on those as apparently very few vehicles had them - option perhaps only?

The wire to my in glass antenae (1987 Carrera) is on the passenger side maybe 10 inches from the side of the glass at the bottom.

Thanks a lot. I'll have to go hunting, also found a post about the small amplifier that's behind the hood support on the passenger side, so I'll go in search of both. It's just like XMas.

Well, can't see anything although the windshield defroster ducting could very well be in the way, and I have't removed the plenum etc. Of note, I do not see an amp on the left wall behind the passenger hood strut - wonder if RoW locations were different, as I seem to come across some variances in wiring.
