Oil cooling scoop

Hi all

Is any one using the front right oil cooling scoop on there 911?
I'm going to mount one on my euro 85 911 where there is no marker light,
Just the rubber trim. On the pic of the the one that Pelican Parts sell looks like
there are some flat surfaces along the bottom, that would be the inside facing
Section of the part. Mine is a continues curve along that inside edge.
am I right?

Thanks Steve.

From the catalog: These side markers are integrated into the front bumper, and are considered parking, or running lights. You can replace the right side marker with an air cooling scoop that provides an increased amount of fresh air to the front-mounted oil cooler. The installation procedure and results of cooling tests can be found in our Pelican Technical Article: 911 Oil Cooler Scoop Installation.

edit (somewhat non responsive answer) I think the question is: Is the scoop flat or curved on the attachment side?

Didn't do much for my ride and if I remember was a PITA to install.

Cutting a slot under the bumper is cheaper and more effective.

Like Joe Bob said also flip the front blinker/parklight assembly and move it back. Make sure you seal the area around the cooler so all the air that goes through these openings will actually go through the cooler

I have one...I am not sure how much it helps...my temps are still pretty hot on track days but Ii dont have "before" data because I didnt run very hard prior to this being installed. My buddy doesnt have one and my guage is ever so slightly lower than his, but that could be the guage not an actual temp reading

they look cool!

for street, I would not even do it - you wont gain enough to worry about

as for the PITA to install...yup....pretty hard to put those couple screws in

I like mine, noticeable IMO. Lots of 405 traffic here and after install temp needle didn't get to the 9 o'clock position.

However, make the modification JB mentions, opening up the lower section of the bumper allows additional air flow.

Install was straight forward with the front corner jacked up enough to get under the valance, taking the front wheel off helps too. My euro might not have the same horn config as USA versions, this might have made install easier...

Thanks all so far ,I have the rubber trim off and there is a hole cut already so it's just a matter of fitting the part. I'm making my own so the cost is only small. I used to make
my own under water housings for photographic equipment, there for this is a dodal. Yep had to remove horns to get to the nuts, as well cheque the wheel bearings that I installed a week ago, and they did need a tweak.

I have one fitted to my '77 Carrera 3 and it only makes a difference on track days .
My car is Australian delivered and it was easy to install as i did not have the same indicators as the U S models have all I had to do was remove a small factory piece taht was fitted on the outside of the single blinker lense which is the standard on OZ delivered cars.
Regards,
Richard.

As I said, as I remember.....I may have been doing something else on my SC but I remember cussing at it. Someone gave it to me.....ended up giving it the float test when I converted to a longhood.

For looking cool, Ivangene....I would also suggest using a 'Cool Collar'.....there's a sucker born every minute.

Steve,

A temperature controled fan (210F) for your stock factory cooler would do
wonders for your concern.

We added one to our '86 as Porsche did not add this upgrade until the late '86 model year.

Along with a 210F switch (not the 248F) reduced our highway temps by 25F.

Good luck,

Gerry
