Sway bar recomendation
 

Car is my 72 it didn't come with a front sway bar. Should I go with 19mm or 22mm. Also want to upgrade shocks. sport or HD? I don't want a harsh ride so should I go for HD?

All depends on planned use. Are you street only, some track, mostly track?

My car is used for street, Autocross and (maybe) a DE every year.

For years I drove with stock torsion bars, 19 mm front and rear adjustable bars, Bilstein HD front/Sport rear shocks. Due to a rubbing issue, I recently added turbo torsion bars to reduce squat and improve autocross handling.

Just spirited street driving

Get a 19mm, I have a 22 and it's to much bar. If you are talking about bilstein shocks, get HD, sports are stiff as hell.

my stock 1977 came with 19mm front and rear

bilstein HD is plenty for street

adjustable front sway bar is the cat's ass

a stock 19mm front should be available used for $50 or less

Sniff around. Many consider the market for stock 19mm worthless as SC and Carrera front bars are out there floating around

I paid $75 for an SC front bar last winter. The seller was a Long Island guy. I didn't even negotiate with him for $10 or $20 off

before you buy a stock sway bar, make sure you have the 'U' brackets welded onto the A arm. If your car does not have them then I would suggest the through the body adjustrable sway bar. A decent set up is a Carrera front bar and an adjustable rear sway bar.

My car does have the tabs and has the factory block off plate for the through the body bar. I just have to unbolt the plate and i believe i am good to go. I am looking at the adj Weltmeister bar. 19mm/ I won't be tracking the car i just want a simple upgrade.

I have the welt and it will work just fine, you can change the drop links to make it even better if you like. Tarett, etc make a much better bar, but since it's a street car, why bother. But if money is no object, get the the best.

The Taretts have nicer bushings than the Weltmeisters. That means quiet, smooth operation. My Welties squeak. Since it is just a canyon toy I don't need to replace them just yet and can save up some money for the nicer Taretts.

I have Weltmeisters without any issue and working fine on my 930. The only thing I can say is that the rust protection is way to thin, so after a few years without any rain contact, they look like other after 20 years...

However I ordered some Taretts mainly because of the nicer look and less weight.
